For me, art is a story and a journey. My journey began with making “mud sculptures” in my back yard (yes, actual mud) and progressed to wall hangings made with yarn and dowel rods, hours of practicing calligraphy, creating the heaviest clay bowl known to humankind (which still survives), and continuing through almost every kind of art imaginable. I love the process of creating art, and through that process, I continue to learn. My current focus is on printmaking and ceramics.
I’m inspired by the natural environment as well as the built environment, both the familiar and the new-to-me. I love it when people ask me what inspired a particular piece of art, because there’s always a story. Telling the story is part of the fun, and it makes the journey worthwhile.
