Last Sunday we enjoyed the first of Worthington’s Concerts on the Green. It’s a favorite tradition of ours, to hang out enjoying live music on the green, and the kickoff has me really excited for spring and summer arts adventures. Here’s what I found for this Memorial Day weekend:
- Secret Studio presents Erika Holycross and Mark Sims at Natalie’s Grandview on Wednesday.
- This is your last chance to see Blooms & Butterflies and El Color Es at Franklin Park Conservatory. Both close on May 29.
- Kittie’s Highline in Worthington has a beautiful new exhibition, Contour in Flux by Brittni Hall, hanging in its art space.
- Last week the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum opened Facing Feelings: The Art of Reina Telgemeier. It runs through November.
- On Thursday the Wexner Center screens Pioneers of Queer Cinema Shorts.
- This Thursday through Sunday the Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival returns to Historic Crew Stadium. Foo Fighters are headlining!
- Outdoor theater season is here, finally, and Actors’ Theatre of Columbus kicks it off this Thursday, May 25 with their production of Robin Hood.
- That same night Evolution Theatre offers the North American premiere of McQueen, a play exploring the work of designer Alexander McQueen.
- On Friday you can catch free live music at Grove City’s Summer Sizzle series.
- That night is also the opening exhibition for Ohio Cultural Carriers: Watering the Seeds at the Streetlight Guild, highlighting the work of Richard Duarte Brown, Malik Carrington and Smoky Brown.
- Saturday Thiossane Institute performs Dances of the Diaspora at the Lincoln Theatre.
- Saturday and Sunday is the Asian Festival, bringing music, dance, food and more to Franklin Park Conservatory.
- The Jeni’s Strawberry Jam returns this Saturday and Sunday to Land-Grant Brewing. Plenty of ice cream, beer, live music and more family fun.
