Arts events that will have you relishing summer

Remember winter? Remember dreaming of warmer days? Well warmer days are here. Now. And the arts have so many ways for you to get out and appreciate summer. There is a lot on the calendar at ColumbusMakesArt.com. Thursday alone has a month’s worth of possible outings. And, as we are still in the warm embrace of summer, many of these events are outdoors.

  • ProMusica SummerFest (free):
  • CAPA’s Summer Movie Series at the Ohio Theater:

BTW both of these events are supported in part by Greater Columbus Arts Council Project Support grants.
  • Saturday, Aug. 14, Columbus Commons is hosting Summer 614, which will feature R&B and hip hop music along with food, drink and vendors. This is a ticketed event.

  • The Dublin Arts Council’s free Sundays at the Scioto concert series features The Brit Pack, Aug. 15.
  • Worthington’s free Concerts on the Green series features Muswell Villebillies, Aug. 15.
  • And let’s wrap up with an event happening Friday, Aug. 13 through Sunday, Aug. 15: Aminah Celebration Days at the Columbus Museum of Art. Admission will be free all weekend (including admission to the special Aminah Robinson exhibition, Raggin’ On). There will be docent tours, activities, discounts on Aminah merchandise and, a special concert with Urban Strings and Mark Lomax III.

Find even more events at ColumbusMakesArt.com. If you are headed to an indoor event, please consider wearing a mask, even if you are fully vaccinated. Let’s not let the pandemic get the best of us.

Lacey Luce is a fully vaccinated digital marketing specialist for the Greater Columbus Arts Council who is frustrated to see vax levels lower than they should be, but will gladly wear a mask if it keeps arts venues open.
