Embrace the night with these six events

I love this time of year. As the nights get longer, I can’t think of a better way to spend them than heading out to enjoy a live performance. There a so many great shows running in Columbus right now. Here are a few new ones opening this week.

I want to start with a new play presented by Red Herring Productions and opening Oct. 24 at the Franklinton Playhouse, The Humans. Full disclosure: I am totally biased on this one because my friend McKenzie Swinehart is the director. But I also think that it’s cool that this will be the regional premier for this Tony-award winning comedy, which was written by Stephen Karam. The show runs through Nov. 10.

Tiny Beautiful Things, presented by Available Light Theatre at Studio One in the Riffe Center also opens Oct. 24. A recent post on Insta warned to bring tissues to the show, which revolves around a struggling writer who takes over an unpaid position as an advice columnist. Tiny Beautiful Things runs through Nov. 9.

ProMusica is at Natalie’s Coal Fired Pizza with It Takes Four to Tango Oct. 24. I love that they are taking chamber music out and about and bringing it to more laidback intimate venues.

Oct. 25, Thurber House is hosting a special event with author James A. Willis, who literally wrote the book Ohio’s spooky lore, urban myths, and more.

Be MOVED, by BalletMet, opens Oct. 25 and runs through Nov. 2 at the Davidson Theatre in the Riffe Center. It includes the highly anticipated, performance of Ulysses Dove’s Red Angels.

Oct. 27, McConnell Arts Centers in partnership with PNC Arts Alive, continues its Night Owls Become Light Owls series with Zoo Trippin’ and Radattack.

These are six events that have me looking forward to sunset this weekend. Find more at columbusmakesart.com and tag us with #artmakescbus.
