Here we are, halfway through June already. Fortunately, it’s been a beautiful season so far. While we’re still hearing of closures and cancellations of arts events, we’re also seeing organizations rally and offer more exhibitions, streaming film, concerts and more. A few highlights I found while searching ColumbusMakesArt.com:
- The ReelAbilities Film Festival Columbus opens with An Evening of Shorts, available online at 7 p.m. today, June 17. (And mark your calendars for a children’s stop-motion film festival on June 27 and the feature Margarita With a Straw on July 1.)
- Also tonight, Wild Goose Creative presents Stories of Hardship, Strength and Resilience. Tune in from 7-9 p.m. to hear these incredible stories; donations are collected for the Columbus Freedom Fund.
- This week the Dublin Arts Council opened a new exhibition titled The Great Outdoors from Sue King.
- Angela Perley plays two shows at Natalie’s Grandview this Saturday and Sunday evenings, June 20 and 21.
- CCAD’s Virtual MFA Thesis Exhibition runs through this Sunday, June 21.
- This Sunday, June 21, the Johnstone Fund for New Music launches a series of seven free virtual concerts called New Music Ohio. This Sunday’s concert, starting at 3 p.m., features David Thomas on clarinet.
Stay safe, everyone, look out for each other.
