Happy June, everyone! I don’t know about you, but Memorial Day weekend felt like a real welcome to summer, despite the chilly temps. We got to hang with family, I grilled everything I could get my hands on, our boys started baseball. Felt good to actually be excited for the summer, with more things reopening.
As usual, you can fill your calendar with concerts, galleries, theater, dance, you name it. Here are the highlights I found ColumbusMakesArt.com for this weekend:
- The Ohio Arts Council’s Riffe Gallery features a virtual talk with artist Teresa Witt on Thursday, June 3
- BalletMet opens Unlocked, a limited run performance featuring a variety of new dance pieces in their black box theater
- The Columbus Symphony wraps up its regular season with Mozart’s Jupiter at the Ohio Theatre, June 4-6
- ProMusica’s SpringFest concludes with David & Vadim on June 4 at The Fives
- The Short North Stage extended the run of The Addams Family virtually and in-person for two more performances, June 4 and 5
- And Saturday, June 5 is the next Hilltop Art Hop
This Saturday, June 5 is the first fully in-person Gallery Hop in over a year! In the neighborhood you’ll find:
- Sharon Weiss Gallery features a solo show of Edmund Boateng’s work, open June 3-27
- Emergent Art & Craft hosts My Name Is My Name, work by Briseus Smith, June 4-30
- Brandt-Roberts Galleries focuses on Caitlin Cartwright and Gavin Benjamin, June 4-27
- And of course the wonderful KaTanya Ingram will be singing
I mentioned all the outdoor live music coming back last week, and this week there’s even more:
- Unplugged at Easton features Devi & Liz on Thursday, June 3
- Upper Arlington’s first Music in the Parks concert sees The Moxie Strings take the stage on Thursday, June 3
- On Friday, June 4, the New Albany Symphony hosts the first of its outdoor Natural Trail Concerts
