There’s another busy weekend coming up for the Columbus arts! Already halfway through the week and here’s what I’m looking forward to:
- This week Adam Hernandez opened a new exhibition at the Ohio State Faculty Club called Paintings from a New Mythology. The show is free, and there’s a reception Friday, May 19 from 6-8 p.m.
- The Sound Company presents a fascinating production of Sophie Treadwell’s Machinal, an expressionist play that explores a woman reacting against a society that wants her to be submissive. See it at MadLab May 18-28.
- Thursday, May 18 you can see Harmony Project’s Concert for Community at Columbus Commons. Tickets are free, but you must register in advance.
- You have through Friday, May 19 to visit An Unsettled Space, an exhibition at Hopkins Hall Gallery exploring photographic film negatives.
- There’s plenty of live music all weekend, from The Floorwalkers at Natalie’s on Friday to John Ford at Combustion Brewery. The Columbus Symphony says Welcome to Spring this Friday and Saturday at the Ohio Theatre.
- It’s a big weekend at the Columbus Museum of Art, too, with Wonderball 2023!
- You can stroll through historic downtown Canal Winchester this Saturday, May 20 from noon to 6 p.m. to catch music, dance and visual art.
- Sunday at Central offers a free performance of a violin and piano duo this Sunday at Broad Street Presbyterian Church.
- That same evening you can catch the Columbus International Children’s Choir at St. Mary Catholic Church in German Village.
- And Sunday evening Worthington Parks and Recreation kicks off its annual Concerts on the Green series with a performance by Kilbourne Middle Schools Bands at 7 p.m.
You can find these events and so many more at ColumbusMakesArt.com!
