I don’t know about you, but the time change is really messing with me this week. I appreciate the extra hour of daylight in the evening, by as a Certified Morning Person™, the change really puts a damper on my morning routine.
But I know I’ll adjust, and having something to look forward to this weekend will help. I’m combing through the calendar on ColumbusMakesArt.com, and here are the events I’ve got my eye on:
- ReelAbilities screens the documentary Crutch online for free, March 16-20.
- The Ohio State Libraries is running a fascinating site-responsive installation from two MFA candidates, Sarah Hess and Hannah McCasland, in the Fine Arts Library. It’s free and open through Apr. 8.
- Last weekend the National Veterans Memorial & Museum debuted a powerful new exhibition titled The Twenty-Year War: Our Next Greatest Generation. Open through Oct. 2, it explores the stories of veterans who served post-9/11.
- Wendy Kendrick has a new exhibition called Daughter of the Thread opening at the King Arts Complex this Sunday, March 20. Wendy was the 2021 Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson Fellowship recipient, and this exhibition is a culmination of her work.
- Also Sunday afternoon, the William H. Thomas Gallery welcomes Nigerian artist Dipo Idris for an exhibition that’s open through April.
And there’s a lot happening in the performing arts this weekend:
- Want to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a little local music? The Drowsy Lads are playing at Natalie’s Grandview Thursday night!
- Performing Arts Creative Ensemble presents Cactus Flower, March 17-20.
- CATCO opens Head Over Heels March 17 and runs through Apr. 3.
