Stay Cozy with the Arts at Home

We may be getting hit with some snow this week (truth be told, I won’t complain – I like getting snowed in), but you can still support and experience the local arts from the comfort of your own home. Here are the virtual events I’ve found on ColumbusMakesArt.com for this week:

At noon on Wednesday, Feb. 17, the Riffe Gallery invites artist Glen Cebulash to do a virtual chat about his process and inspirations as part of the gallery's latest exhibition, Build It: Artists Creating Community in Ohio.

The Wexner Center hosts a virtual talk with architect-activist Pascale Sablan on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.

That same night, Feb. 17, the ReelAbilities Film Festival presents a free evening of short films streamed online from 7-9 p.m.

The Jazz Arts Group also offers a night of jazz with trumpeter/vocalist Tony Glausi alongside Bryon Stripling and the All-Star Band, streamed on their platform JAG.TV starting at 8 p.m. on Feb. 17.

Tune in virtually to see Columbus musician and singer Jermaine Smith performing live from the Lincoln Theatre on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.

ROY G BIV hosts a virtual opening reception for its latest exhibition, ImageOhio, on Friday, Feb. 19 from 6-8 p.m.

You can watch the three Art Unites Cbus Film Award winners for free, streaming through the Wexner Center through Friday, Feb. 19. You can also view the companion film and photography exhibition virtually.

Explore the King Arts Complex virtual exhibition, M(art)in Unites, and tune in at noon on Saturday, Feb. 20 for a virtual version of their All Arts Day, held annually in celebration of Aminah Robinson.

The Gateway Film Center offers its Virtual Screening Rooms, with a curated selection of films like the new documentary Truth to Power.

The Wexner Center is also streaming a variety of film, like the delightful Ernest & Célestine, an animated film great for kids; the documentary Pressure Cooker: Culinary Arts Bootcamp; or OSU Dance’s annual DANCE@30FPS dance-film project.

Stay safe out there, everyone!
