Happy April, everyone! I hope we’re in for a lovely spring. I looked through the calendars on ColumbusMakesArt.com and can see Columbus arts flourishing.
A few highlights of what’s happening this week:
- Columbus poet Barbara Fant performs with the Black Women Rise Poetry Collective at the Lincoln Theatre tonight, March 31. In-person tickets are sold out, but you can still tune in virtually.
- The Urban Arts Space just opened a new virtual and in-person exhibition called Cut, Scan, Mill, Print, Render, Tweak, Shuffle, Repeat. Seems like a fascinating collection of student work combining both digital and physical techniques. It runs through April 25.
- The Gateway Film Center offers virtual screenings of the Oscar-nominated short films April 2-8.
- CCAD opens its MFA Thesis Exhibition at the Beeler Gallery on Friday, April 2. It's open by appointment only.
- This Saturday, April 3 is both the Hilltop Art Hop and Gallery Hop. The Short North sees several new exhibitions, like Cody Heichel at Brandt-Roberts Galleries, Paul Emory at Sharon Weiss Gallery and Rhythms of Life at (Not) Sheep Gallery.
And plenty of things wrapping up this week, so act now!
- ProMusica’s on-demand virtual Winterfest: Concertos for Two (April 1)
- Wexner Center virtual screenings like the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour (April 1), The Women (April 2) and Signs of Remembering (April 2)
- ROY G BIV’s latest in-person exhibition featuring Benedict Scheuer and Noah Kashiani (April 3)
- Blockfort’s Lasting Legacies, open by appointment (April 3)
