There have been lots of ups and downs over recent weeks. Late last week, following the city’s stay-at-home advisory, a number of Columbus’ arts organizations decided to temporarily close up or pause programming. This means it’s more important than ever to support our local artists and organizations by purchasing gifts or memberships or tickets from them.
The schedule is a little wonky this week because of Thanksgiving, but I searched ColumbusMakesArt.com and rounded up several events that you can enjoy safely in-person or virtually.
You can hang at home and enjoy these films, performances or concerts:
- Plenty of streaming options through the Wexner Center, like City Hall, Margaret Lazarus’ Before It Kills Us All and Alison Crocetta’s Bear in Mind (Bill of Rights)
- Tune in to a live stream of Angela Perley performing at Natalie’s on Friday, Nov. 27
- Or tune in that same night for an online performance of Songs of Gratitude by Bill Cohen
- Still in the Halloween mood? Stream Nina West’s Heels of Horror!
- You can’t go inside Highline Coffee to see the artwork anymore, but you can order coffee through the front door, and you can see Deidre Pifer’s Chasing Trail exhibition virtually
- Take in the comedy Loose Canon online from Eclipse Theatre Company
- Watch the winners of Film Columbus’ Stuck at Home film contest
If you feel comfortable going out, there are a few in-person events. Just keep in mind that some organizations are open by appointment only:
- ROY G BIV opens two new exhibitions this week: Tess Elliot’s End User and Justin Hodges’ Two Truths and a Lie
- Shop 3060 Artworks’ Holiday Artisan Market in person, or online with curbside pick-up
- I love any opportunity to see Christmas lights. You can mask up and walk outside to see the holiday lights at Easton.
- (Not) Sheep Gallery’s One World wraps up on Nov. 29. They’re currently open by appointment only.
- Hammond Harkins Galleries just opened its annual exhibition Small & Wonderful, which is available by private appointment and virtually through their website
- Franklin Park Conservatory remains open with its current shows Conservatory Aglow, Holiday Blooms and the Paul Busse Garden Railway
Wishing you all a safe and relaxing Thanksgiving!
