ATC presents The Shakespeare Underground: Loa to Divine Narcissus

The Shakespeare Underground returns to its new home: The Studio @ The Kitchen!

TSU is an exuberant, fun, unpredictable take on classic plays from Shakespeare and a variety of authors. The concept of the project is a combination of guerrilla street theater and traditional Elizabethan staging methods. What’s more “underground” than that? Please join us to hear something that you’ve probably never heard before.

LOA TO DIVINE NARCISSUS by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, directed by Nikki Davis

Legendary Mexican poet and playwright Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz’s Loa to Divine Narcissus (1689) is an allegorical play that depicts the arrival of the Spanish in Mexico. Known as the Tenth Muse and the Mexican Sphinx, Sor Juana was a nun famous for her secular writings, early feminism, and egalitarian ideals. She remains a national hero in Mexico and a figure of intense critical interest today.

Admission is $15 in advance, or "Pay What You Will" at the door. Complimentary reserved seating is available for ATC members (members must RSVP for reserved seating).

Doors open at 7:00pm | Show 8:00pm
