ATC presents The Shakespeare Underground: Murder in the Cathedral

The Shakespeare Underground returns to its new home: The Studio @ The Kitchen!

TSU is an exuberant, fun, unpredictable take on classic plays from Shakespeare and a variety of authors. The concept of the project is a combination of guerrilla street theater and traditional Elizabethan staging methods. What’s more “underground” than that? Please join us to hear something that you’ve probably never heard before.

MURDER IN THE CATHEDRAL by T.S. Eliot, directed by Adam Simon

First performed in 1935, Murder in the Cathedral is a verse drama by T.S. Eliot that portrays the assassination of Archbishop Thomas Becket in Canterbury Cathedral during the reign of Henry II in 1170. Eliot drew heavily on the writing of Edward Grim, a clerk who was an eyewitness to the event. The play, dealing with an individual’s opposition to authority, was written at the time of rising fascism in central Europe.

Admission is $15 in advance, or "Pay What You Will" at the door. Complimentary reserved seating is available for ATC members (members must RSVP for reserved seating).

Doors open at 7:00pm | Show 8:00pm
