Artists Selected for 2020 PromoWest and Columbus Makes Art Exhibition

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Greater Columbus Arts Council (Arts Council) in collaboration with PromoWest Productions has announced the four artists selected to participate in the 2020 PromoWest and Columbus Makes Art exhibition. The selected artists’ work will be displayed on the south side of A&R Music Bar in the Arena District. Each artist will be paid a $500 honorarium by the Arts Council and will receive recognition on the installed work. The exhibition is expected go on view in June, and it will be up for one year.

More than 1,600 votes were cast by the public. The four winning artists are: Harry Acosta, Katherine Crowley, Ellen Knolls and Erin Stacey.

Harry Acosta (43035) has been a freelance designer and photographer in Columbus for more than 15 years. After only four years’ experience behind a camera, he opened a photography studio in 2016. He is most passionate about capturing the magic in unseen moments we take for granted in everyday life. His piece is titled Flying Giant.

Katherine Crowley (43202) maintains a fine art studio in Clintonville where she works on oil paintings and small bronze sculptures as well as photography and found object constructions. Most of her work centers around a narrative and incorporates personal memory and symbolic imagery with a focus on the legacy of the individual. Her piece is titled Ridin’.

Ellen Knolls (43209) is a Columbus-based artist who has spent the past 11 years developing her skill and style as an artist. While cows are her main passion, she finds joy in painting a variety of subjects both in oils and acrylics. Her piece is titled Game Day Gabby.

Erin Stacey (43224) is a graduate of Ohio Dominican University. She began producing art as a young adult for several businesses and clients. She has participated at Via Colori, Urban Scrawl and Gallery Hop. Erin is passionate about making art and inspired by the places she has traveled. Her piece is titled Summer Symphony.

A review committee of community and Arena District business representatives selected 10 finalists on the criteria of originality, creative execution and general appeal, and the four artists chosen to participate in the exhibition were selected through an online public voting process.
