"LIBERTY KAY" MARE AND FOAL

Welded steel sculptures of a mare and foal that are in the median off Sawmill Pkwy in Powell where you enter Liberty Township when coming north on Sawmill. Donated by Kay Barry to honor the horse breeding history of the area, known as the "Bluegrass of Ohio." Artist Bob Tanner. The Mare was named Liberty Kay, after Kay Barry, and a contest, open to Liberty Township and Powell residents, was held to name the foal. The winning name was revealed in a ceremony held on June 8, 2014. Kay Barry Died in November of that same year at the age of 92.
