Trinity Episcopal Church
Built in 1869, Trinity Episcopal Church was designed by architect Gordon W. Lloyd in the Gothic Revival style. Home to one of the oldest congregations in Columbus, the building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The church contains a wealth of artistic treasures, including the east wall windows which were designed by David Maitland Armstrong who worked with Louis Comfort Tiffany before opening his own studio. Four striking windows in the north and south galleries also were designed by Wilbur Herbert Burnham of Boston to depict the story of the Creation among other scenes from the Old and New Testaments. The newer “Church in the World” window over the west doors shows civic and national landmarks, as well as symbols of industry, education and recreation. Many architectural changes have taken place over the years, including the addition of a tower and parish house in 1910 and a small porch in 1940. The interior of the building was renovated to its current splendor in 2005 and 2006.
