Every week as I dig through the calendars on ColumbusMakesArt.com, I’m so pleased seeing more and more events popping up. Arts organizations and artists are finding ways to share the arts virtually and safely. This week I found student exhibitions, concerts, dance classes, film and an art auction:
- Last week, CCAD kicked off its annual Chroma: Best of CCAD as a virtual affair. Watch their landing page to see a huge variety of work. And best of all: it’s staying up through June of 2021! On top of that, CCAD also launched a virtual MFA thesis exhibition.
- On Thursday, May 28 at 5:30 p.m., the Wexner Center hosts a free performance from percussionist Mark Lomax.
- The Wex also continues streaming some terrific films, like No Data Plan, Supa Modo and Liza Johnson.
- Take part in supporting Wild Goose Creative and local artists in the annual Wild Art Columbus on Thursday, May 28. The one night event is being hosted in a Facebook group.
- Tune in to the C-BUS Sessions from Home, a livestream concert featuring CVNVDV, Henodus and Kevin Stokes that starts at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 29.
- ROY G BIV offers another exhibition, this one from Katie Davis and Erin Furimsky, through June 6.
- CAPA continues the new round of the Together ApART concert series with the stellar lineup of Honey & Blue, Paisha Thomas and Counterfeit Madison, and The Cordial Sins. The half hour concerts are featured Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
- The Columbus-based folk band Caamp, which has made a name for itself nationally, will livestream a show this Saturday, May 30 from Natalie’s in Grandview. Part of the ticket proceeds support Natalie’s.
- If you’re interested in learning a new dance technique while in quarantine, the King Arts Complex is offering a series of online classes called Ohio Black Dance: Digital Dance.
Stay safe, everyone! Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Stay safely distanced.
