Wil Wong Yee Biography and Vision

Wil Wong Yee, aka Chili Wong, is a professional artist who specializes in applying creative blends of mixed medium which includes spray paint, markers and acrylic paint on plywood to create unique city scape paintings in front of a live audience. Wil’s exceptional talents have caught the attention of many art lovers and collectors in and around his hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Many of his paintings have been featured at various sections of downtown Columbus, Bexley and the Short North. Wil has also done custom scenes highlighting local sports venues such as The Ohio State University “The Shoe” stadium as well as the Columbus Crew Stadium.

Wil is a 2005 graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design school, where he majored in Industrial Design. He shares most of his work via social media, which serves as the platform to provide advice and inspiration to aspiring and professional artists who admire his distinctive techniques.

Wil has a strong desire to give back to the community by using his skills as an artist to inspire youth and promote volunteerism.  As part of those efforts, Wil recently participated in the CCAD semiannual art sale, along with more than 100 CCAD students, faculty and alumni. In 2014, the fall platform “Before They’re Famous” welcomed more than 1,400 patrons raising nearly $5000 for the CCAD scholarship fund through admission fees alone. During last year’s sale, Wil sold 15 paintings which was a personal best. Some of the paintings have been displayed at Columbus City Hall, North High Brewing Company, Carabar, State Farm, The Bluestone and other local restaurants and hotspots in Columbus.

There are paintings displayed and for sale at the State and Third Boutique inside the Shops at Capital Square, Paper Daisy and Urban Emporium.

Being raised by a single mom who has been his prime supporter of his career and educational goals has motivated Wil to create his own company named Chili Wong, LLC. This company is centered on a business model platform designed to promote social responsibility – a large portion of the company’s proceeds will generate funds for local nonprofits.  Wil names his son Isaac as his biggest inspiration for achieving success.
