Maggie Smith

Poetry
Ohio native Maggie Smith holds a BA from Ohio Wesleyan University and an MFA from The Ohio State University, where she won two Academy of American Poets Prizes. She is the author of Lamp of the Body (2005) and two chapbooks, Nesting Dolls (2005) and The List of Dangers (2010).

Her poems have appeared in The Paris Review, The Iowa Review, The Gettysburg Review, and many other journals and anthologies. Smith has received three Individual Excellence Awards from the Ohio Arts Council and, most recently, a 2011 Creative Writing Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.

She has taught creative writing at The Ohio State University and Gettysburg College, where she was the Emerging Writer Lecturer, and has taught writing workshops at the Southside Settlement House, the Thurber House, and in local schools. She currently works as an editor and lives in Bexley, Ohio, with her husband and young daughter.
