Utpola Borah, PhD.
Utpola is an exponent of  Hindustani classical vocalist captivating audiences worldwide with her artistry. She has been performing khyal, thumri, dadra, ghazal, sufi, bhajan, regional folk songs of India. Utpola’s mastery of various genres of Indian music comes from her extensive study with Padma Vibhushan (Dr.) Prabha Atre https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prabha_Atre, Vidushi Malashri Prasad, Pandit Indralal Dhanda, Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iqbal_Ahmad_Khan and Ustad Ballu Khan Warsi of the Kirana, Banaras Udaipur, and Delhi gharanas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gharana respectively. Utpola is an accomplished concert performer and is regularly performing in USA and India.

Utpola holds a Doctorate degree in Music from University of Delhi http://www.du.ac.in/du/, India. Currently, she is working at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, USA, and Arts Learning/Artist in Residence, Ohio Arts Council, USA.

Following the path of her masters her goal is to impart India’s ancient music traditions to new audiences. Utpola has been imparting music lesson (both in person and online), master classes/workshop/lecturer demonstration in North Indian classical vocal music to all ages and level for several years in USA and abroad. 

Sacred Music LLC.

Utpola is the Director & Owner of Sacred Music LLC. An Art and Cultural organization; promoting Indian performing arts, history and culture through singing, instrumental music, dancing and storytelling among the Central Ohio community. 

As part of the cultural educational outreach program we also promote and encourage multicultural awareness, local arts forms like Jazz, Blues, Central Asian, Turkish etc,. music and musicians. 

Music class:

North Indian (Hindustani) music: vocal, sitar, flute, tabla, harmonium  

Western music: keyboard and guitar

Central Asian: Oud and Dumbak

For all ages and level both in person and online. These classes are taught by highly trained professional artists and masters both individual and group.
