Karl Wohlwend

Classical
Karl Wohlwend has performed across North America, playing guitar in every imaginable style and setting.  Recent performing highlights include accompanying mandolinist, Carlo Aonzo; completing a week-long residency with New York's avant-garde ensemble, Alarm Will Sound; touring with Grammy-winning countertenor, Ian Howell, including an appearance on Ravinia's Rising Stars Series; and playing with clarinet legend Richard Stolzman and the Lancaster Festival Orchestra onstage and for their debut recording, Ragomania.
In July, 2011, he was invited to present at the College Music Society's International Conference in Seoul, Republic of Korea.  The Outer Banks (NC) Forum for the Lively Arts hailed his "extraordinary talent," and the Washington, DC Guitar Society praised his "command of technique, beautiful tone, and sensitive musicianship."  His debut solo recording, including music of Lauro, Mertz, Villa-Lobos, Koshkin, and Bach was released in the summer of 2009, and in January 2011 he released Out of Italy, featuring music by rarely-heard 19th century guitar composers.  He has recently been performing and recording early guitar music on a replica baroque guitar. Karl has also recently formed the Eos Duo with flutist Kimberlee Goodman, and has collaborated with mandolinist Eugene Braig in Gruviera Armonico since 2004.
