Christopher Weait’s composing is informed by an extensive and highly successful professional career as a bassoonist and teacher.

His "Drumming Up America!" for rudimental drummers and concert band was featured by the West Point Band (USMA Band) at their concert celebrating the 200th anniversary of the band at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. The work was conducted by Lt. Col. Tod Addison.

His works have been performed by the Toronto Symphony, the Eastman Wind Ensemble, the Hong Kong Wind Kamerata, the Inspirare Duo, the duo Double Play, the Westerville Concert Band, the Central Ohio Symphony and by ensembles at schools and universities.
 
His works have been recorded by the German Wind Soloists (Marco Polo), by the Chinese bassoon virtuoso Liu Qi (China Record Corp.) and by Canada’s Aeolian Winds (IBS). US recordings include: the New York Bassoon Quartet (Leonarda), Arbitrio (Centuar), and OBOHIO (Coronet).
 
Weait Music <www.weaitmusic.com> publishes his creative output including more than 200 compositions, transcriptions, arrangements, performing editions, instructional books and DVDs.
 
After serving 17 years as a principal bassoonist in Canada's Toronto Symphony, he taught at The Ohio State University School of Music from 1984 to 2006 and at Capital University Conservatory of Music from 2010 to 2014. He has been a visiting professor at the Eastman School of Music, at Indiana University and in Argentina and Chile.
 
Upcoming Events

A concert of his music including 4 premieres will be presented as part of the annual NOW Festival at Capital University Conservatory of Music on February 4, 2019. Also in 2019 he is expecting performances at the Mid-Atlantic Flute Festival, Penn State’s Single Reed Summit at ClarinetFest in Knoxville and in Ottawa Canada.
