Bev Goldie has been a professional oil painter since 2004, accepting many projects and commissions - including businesses, The City of Dublin and The City of Columbus.  In 2011 she saw and fell in love encaustics when she saw them in NYC at a Ritz Carlton Hotel Lobby, and later in other hotels and galleries.  With assistance from the Greater Columbus Arts Council, she has received grants to purchase supplies, attend workshops for professional development, and underwrite expenses for a new encaustic series.  These grants have enabled her to teach workshops and later become an instructor at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center.

Encaustics are molten wax and resin, an ancient art over 2000 years old from Greece.  It has been one of the fastest growing art forms, and reminds people of ceramic tiles or very textured oil paintings.  It is applied with molten wax and fused with heat guns or blowtorch.  Bev employs both, and has explored the wide variety of ways encaustics can be used.  It allows her to express the moods, styles and colors she wants like no other medium.

Her work has won many awards and been juried into local and national gallery shows.  One of her works is part of the permanent collection of the Encaustic Museum of Art in Santa Fe  N.M.
