Jennifer Stewart

Jenn Stewart was born in Columbus Ohio, and had the good fortune to spent her first twenty summers on an island off the coast of Maine, sailing, hiking and being totally immersed in the wild part of downeast Maine. This love of the coast inspired her to start painting landscapes at an early age.

Jenn earned a BFA in painting from Wittenberg University in 1991. Having taken workshops with Stan Moleller on Monhegan and Tim Horn in Ohio, she works both En Plein Air, and in the studio. Her work explores light and shadow across a range of subject matter from inner city, to Ohio farms and her beloved Monhegan and the Maine Coast. Annual trips for a week of painting on Monhegan renew her love of the ocean and keep her inspired. She strives to evoke a strong sense of place and an emotional response in the viewer.

   She regularly participates in plein air events and has received numerous awards in Plein air competitions and juried shows Jenn is currently serving on the board of the Ohio Plein Air Society and is active with the group and with the Central Ohio Plein Air Painters. Jenn has been represented by Hayley Gallery in New Albany since November 2020
