March Your Way Into the Arts

Happy March! As we watch pandemic cases fall and temperatures rise, I’m getting excited for the arts in Columbus this spring. Look at everything I found on ColumbusMakesArt.com just for this weekend:

  • The Ohio State Theatre, Film and Media Arts Department presents Lynn Nottage’s play Sweat from March 2-11.
  • The live storytelling event Speak Easy returns to Wild Goose Creative on Thursday, March 3.
  • That same evening, Flippo plays a tribute to Marvin Gaye at Natalie’s on Grandview.
  • OSU Dance performs a concert of new works by its BFA and MFA students at Sullivant Hall, March 3-5.
  • Columbus Children’s Theatre performs an immersive, sensory-friendly theater show for very young kids called Crawls, Flies and Squirms! from March 3-20.
  • ProMusica offers a concert of chamber music, Four Strings, at The Fives on Friday, March 4.
  • 934 Gallery hosts the opening reception to its newest exhibition, Windows, on Friday, March 4. It’ll be on display through Apr. 16.
  • This weekend Carpe Diem String Quartet performs Nothing Shines as Bright: By Footpath and Stile at Worthington United Methodist Church (March 4-5) and First Unitarian Universalist Church (March 6).
  • The Butterfly Guild, which raises money for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, performs Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella at the Palace Theatre, March 4-6.
  • The Columbus Museum of Art opens its next big exhibition, Roy Lichtenstein: History in the Making, 1948-1960. Catch it starting Saturday, March 5 through June 5.
  • The New Albany Symphony Orchestra performs a concert celebrating African-American composer George Walker on Sunday, March 6.

This Saturday, March 5 is Gallery Hop, so you can visit a number of exhibitions in the district:
